PROJECT
Mineral Wells, TX · Historic hotel renovation concept
Opened in 1929, the Baker Hotel rose 14 stories over Mineral Wells, Texas, and quickly became one of the state's great spa destinations, drawing visitors from across the country to the town's famed mineral waters. The Spanish Colonial Revival landmark held 450 guest rooms, two ballrooms and the first hotel swimming pool in Texas. It closed its doors in 1972, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, and is now being restored as the Baker Hotel and Spa.
The developer of this project provided four original images for Second Look Creative to add life to the project. Working from the design intent and the client's input, we refreshed all four originals with warm light, golden hour and dusk through the tall windows, and the people who make a grand hotel feel alive: guests at the balcony railing, a candlelit dinner in the ballroom, a live band playing to a full room, and an evening crowd in the lobby. We also created two new images: a new perspective of the grand lobby and a new view of the parlor.
